the 60s pop reunion tour
lineup: mark lindsey (paul revere and the raiders), gary lewis (and the playboys), the buckinghams, peter noone (hermans hermits), chad and jeremy, the grassroots, tommy james (and the shondells).
this was a DREAM LINEUP. i was seriously in awe at being able to attend a show like this. this is copied right out of my online diary because its a lot to type again.
mark lindsay: mark lindsay picked out an awful setlist for us to hear and i was very disappointed. the only good one he did was "kicks" though i was really hoping to hear "just like me" and "whats it going to be (him or me?)" he did shit like "arizona" and "indian reservation" and that pissed me right off.
gary lewis: he didnt even sound the same and i wondered if he was embarassed or even realized that he sounded terrible. at least he did "shes just my style" which is my favorite, and also "this diamond ring."
the buckinghams: this was my big surprise for the nite. we havent seen them before and they ruled. i LOVED hearing "mercy, mercy, mercy" which beth once described as the song of the sugar shack girls, as well as all the other goods like "kind of a drag," "dont you care," and "hey baby (they're playin our song)."
peter noone: i already knew peter noone ruled cuz we just saw him at the moondog a few months ago. as usual he was hilarious and sounded great. he did his impression of mick jagger again and he also pretended to be davy jones and sang part of "daydream believer" on his knees. everyone knows their songs like "henry 8th" and "mrs brown you've got a lovely daughter." i got another picture with him after his set and he signed the hermans hermits shirt i got even though i didnt want him to. ha.
chad and jeremy: they were boring and too folk for a "pop rock" show. they only have two good songs anyhow ("a summer song" and "yesterdays gone") and they did them both. whatev.
the grassroots: they rocked the fuck out and it was fun. my favorite is "temptation eyes" but it was also great to hear "midnite confession" and "sooner or later."
tommy james: we saw him at the moondog too and it was great once again. hearing songs like "crimson and clover," "crystal blue persuasion," "i think we're alone now" and "mony mony" sound so much better live, it has such a huge sound. i was just sad that they didnt do "hanky panky."
overall, a very fun experience.
